At Woodbury Salterton , Collective Worship is an important part of our school day when we come together to take time to worship and reflect.
Our Collective Worship takes many forms and we aim to make it inclusive, invitational and inspirational. We often come together as a whole school but we also worship within our classes and as individuals. Our worship is based upon Christian values and teachings, referring to the Bible and relating the message to how we can live life in all its fullness. We offer a range of worship opportunities based upon Gary Tomas’ Sacred Pathways, as we recognise that people encounter God in different ways. Therefore, we enable the children to worship God through listening to scripture, through song, through artwork, individually and with others and finally through being outside in nature. Many people lead our Collective Worship including the staff, our vicar, the local ICE team and the children.  We hold our collective worship in the church, hall, when the weather allows, we hold “In the Round” collective worship outside in the school grounds.  Finally, we hold several school events in our local church: Harvest, Christingle. Christmas Carol Concert, Easter and Year 6 Leavers Celebration. Â
It is a legal requirement for schools to have a daily act of Collective Worship. Parents have the right to withdraw their children from these and any parent considering this should have early discussions with Miss Pyle.
