Saplings had a fantastic trip to Lyme Regis, where they took part in a variety of exciting activities as part of the annual Fossil Festival. Throughout the day, the children learnt fascinating facts from experienced palaeontologists from around the world about how fossils are formed and how they help scientists understand the different types and sizes of dinosaurs that once roamed the Earth.
The children also became dinosaur detectives as they studied fossilised dinosaur poo to learn about the diets and eating habits of these prehistoric creatures! One of the highlights of the day was polishing their own ammonite fossil to take home as a special souvenir.
To round off the trip, Saplings enjoyed a guided tour of the Lyme Regis Museum, where they discovered more about the incredible fossil finds of Mary Anning and her important contributions to palaeontology.
It was a fun-filled day of discovery, hands-on learning and unforgettable experiences. Well done, Saplings, for your enthusiasm and excellent behaviour throughout the trip!Â
